rev limiter
i have a 2002 sxt neon, and in park and neutral the rev limiter limits revving the engine to 4 grand. is there anyway to get this limiter off, or do you need to buy a chip. also, what chips, or whole computer do they have for a automotice 2002 neon, i seen a couple but there is a lot for 2003 models, i was wondering if they would work because there proctically the same car, i just dont know it the computers are different. if anyone knows please let me know, because i would love to rev higher in park, thanks
1st off, why do you want to rev a ATX? If you are doing it to sound cool, your an idiot or to neutral drop the car, you trans won't last long. The only way to up the rev limiter is to get an aftermarket PCM.
The rev limiter should be at 6750, not 4k... In gear, I think the 4-speed is supposed to shift around 5500 at WOT.
A 2003 PCM will not work. The crank signal changed and it is not backwards compatible... AFX (www.howellautomotive.com) sells a 2nd gen auto unit, but be prepared to pay... and it isn't going to change your shift points either.
And I agree with Casper. Drop shifting your auto tranny is going to kill it.
Best of luck!
