i am putting my engine back in and the car cranks like it wants to turn over but fuel is not being sent to the fuel chamber. I even filled the fuel rail with gas and it just stays in the fuel rail while i crank.
A lot of information we would need to assist you is absent from your post. We are not mind readers. Background info would be helpful. What year? What engine? Why are you putting the engine back in? What was wrong with it? Those kids of things....
2002 dodge neon with the base 2.0 liter engine. I am taking the engine out because the timing belt snapped on the previous owner. Miraculously i pulled it out and the valves and cylinders are good. i have put a new timimg belt on along with all new gaskets and seals. the goal is to take this car dirt track racing on sept 8th.
I got the motor back in and 95% of the plugs back in. (There are 1 or 2 i cannot find the homes for, one of which is pictured. Some plugs are not needed anymore as the car has been striped of all lights and windshield wipers etc.
anyways i got the car to crank and it has spark in all cylinders. The fuel rail has no gas in it and when i turn the engine over it doesnt suck any fuel from the fuel rail when i have manuelly put fuel in the fuel rail.
so basically the engine is cranking and the injectors are not taking on or spraying fuel.
i have a feeling it is an electrical plug. But i have spent alot of time looking already.
do the injectors have a plug or ground in the engine bay?
I dont hear anything from the fuel pump. And i dont think there is any fuel pressure. Nothing seems to be going on in the fuel rail. The car cranks and acts as if it wants to fire up it just isnt getting any fuel at all. No fuel movement whatsoever
Is the fuel pump supposed to prime before cranking the car?
wouldnt the injectors still attempt to pull fuel from the fuel rail after i have manuely put gas in the fuel rail? (When i crank it over)
when the car was parked it was due to the timing belt snapping. It doesnt make sense for the fuel pump to be broken. Just maybe possibly something electrical i havent plugged back in.
Injectors don't "suck" gas. The fuel pump provides pressure to the injectors. The fuel pump should come on for a few seconds when turning the ignition on to pressurize the fuel system so when the injectors open, there is pressure to spray gas. Injectors don't pull anything. They open and close. Here's how fuel injection works....
