Have noticed rattling in the rear of my '05 SXT and it seems the frame-like piece behind license plate area is quite rusted. This piece runs nearly
the width of the car. Would appreciate any information on the feasibility of replacing this metal framing, if it's a structural item, and also if this is
a common issue with this vehicle.

as long as it bolts in place. if you have to weld it you may want help unless you have a mig.

you probably will have to remove the rear bumper cover.
