Question 2nd Gen Neon Car Alarm - How to Permanently Disable

I have a '00 Neon with 240K miles. Really worked hard for past 8 years to keep this running well. I just passed inspection in October am good till 2021. Great running car but the CAR ALARM is acting peculiar. Going off middle of night I believe by itself. Not good in apartment complex. Having a working car alarm is superfluous as the street value is only $350. Nobody is going to steal my 20-year old rust bucket. I don't want to buy any new parts like the CTM. Is the electronic fob setting this alarm? Would manually locking cars avoid setting this alarm? If not, can I simply cut the light green/orange wire pair inside the driver's side door? I heard that permanently kills the alarm. I recently replaced my rusted out car horn and would like to keep this working. Except for mostly minor glitches, this Dodge has been a fantastic investment for my wife and I!

Is it a factory or aftermarket alarm?
