I'm reading the service manual and it's mind boggling. It says that you have to remove the oil filter adapter as one of the steps to removing the oil pan. Great. But the instructions for removing the oil filter adapter is basically, “take it off. The end. Case closed”.

So, how do you take it off and do you really need to take it off?
