Default Crank no start code p1388 lots of new parts

I have an 2002 neon base model and all of sudden it cranks with no start. We fixed this problem one before by replacing a wire for the ignition coil switch and the whole switch its self and worked for about a week but went back to not starting. I replace the spark plugs and wires, crank and cam sensor, asd relay, ignition coil pack, IAC valve, tested for power in wires that went to the computer and fuse box and everything has power to it but still no start. Any help will be appreciated thanks.

Welcome to the 2nd Gen Neon forum.

You've been busy on this puppy, were all those parts faulty or otherwise in need of replacement, or were you just tossing parts at the problem on a hunch???? If it was a hunch scenario, resist the urge & take the time to scan the ECM for trouble code clues & post up All code Numbers, as they can help focus a trouble shoot.

If you don't have, or can't borrow or come by a scan tool, or code reader to scan for codes, you can induce the vehicle ECM to look for & display codes on the dash display by cycling the ignition switch from Off to On/Run (but don't crank the engine), three times, stopping at On/Run the third time, then write down & post All code Numbers in this thread & the forum will try to help decide the next best trouble shooting move.

Remember it takes fuel, air & spark to make em run & good spark, valve, ignition timing & fuel delivery to make em run well, so whats going missing that it won't start???? Did the problem come about After some event???
Some beginning thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find.

WOOOOPS, just realized you posted a P1388 in your thread title & my short term memory laid down on me real good this time, anyway post up any additional trouble code clues you've come by, as all can help focus a trouble shoot.

Now back to the P1388 = the ECM has detected a problem with the ASD (Automatic ShutDown) power relay, or its circuit, maybe open circuit, or a short circuit, so remove the ASD relay & using your multimeter on the ohms scale, test across its solenoid contacts, it should measure 30-70 ohms.
OR if you have a like known good relay, or have one in the fuse box thats not needed to run the engine, try swapping it in & see if the anomaly clears.
If the known good relay is inoperative, or the old relay solenoid tests an open circuit condition, check the relay solenoid circuit fuse to see if its blown. If it is don't plug the old relay back in, but do recheck the known good replacement relay operation after installing the new fuse. If still no joy, check to make sure you have 12 volts B+ across the fuse. If you do, check that the voltage is getting to the power relay solenoid contact socket. If not, check for corrosion, loose fit socket connections, or a broken connection between the relay & fuse, or an open ground connection..

More basic trouble shooting thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find.

BUMP:

Well Cbeaver how is the trouble shoot going, 288 curious minds would like to know!!!! If you've found & fixed the problem, would be interesting to hear the fix, as it would add to the forum knowledge base & maybe help a member with a like problem.
