Default 2005 Dodge Neon SXT 2.0 Won't start

I was taking my Neon to go and help some people out and dd for a party tonight and got blindsided by my neon's RPM's plummeting follow by an oil pressure light and a check engine light. I pulled over and checked under the car for leaks and nothing was apparent, no leaking from the oil pan gasket or anywhere else in the engine. Oil level was fine as well. The car now won't start, fuel pump hums and the engine tries to start but just spins. I don't completely bag my car but I could be more respectful when I'm driving. I noticed a bit of a knock but nothing bad enough to possibly throw a rod. Just need to see what people think so I know if I should go to dodge instead of repairing it myself.

A belated Welcome to the 2nd Gen Neon forum.

I see you never got any replies & have probably gotten it fixed by now & if so would be interesting to hear what was found. If you don't have it fixed by now, I'll see if I can get things started. Scan for & Post up All trouble code Numbers, as they can help focus a trouble shoot. If you can't get it to your favorite auto parts store for a no cost trouble code scan, don't have, can't borrow, or come by a scan tool, or code reader, you can have the ECM put up the codes on the dash display by cycling the ignition from Off to Run, three times, (but don't crank the engine) stopping at Run the third time & write down & post All code Numbers displayed & the forum will try & suggest your next best action, based on what the trouble codes suggest.
Some beginning thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find.
