Wonderin if a Sxt Neon tranny would work for an 2003 Se Neon ( 5 speed) and also where could i find one for a decent price....

 

Yes, it will work just fine.

Besides powerwindows, Keyless entry, Minor alarm system, White gauges, Cruise control, and a Tachometer, The SXT and the SE are the exact same car.

 

ebay has them for a decent price every now and then. You can also try www.car-parts.com which is an online salvage yard database. You can use any 5-speed from any 1995-2005 Neon (except SRT-4), the gearboxes are identical. If you get one from mid-2000 and earlier, the bellhousing is different - cable-actuated clutch compared to your hydraulic clutch. You can swap the bellhousings though. And keep in mind that some of the gear ratios were different... there are 3 different versions of a 3.94 final drive tranny (two 1st gen and one 2nd gen) and 2 different versions of the 3.55 final drive tranny (1st and 2nd gen). All will work without further modification.
