I bought a 2001 dodge neon that had been sitting for 10 years after a front end crash on the passenger side. Replaced radiator, power steering pump, and passenger headlight. Tried to start and no fuel pressure. Fuel gauge is functional but I cannot hear the fuel pump come on once I turn the key. Replaced the fuel pump regulator and filter with a junkyard replacement and still no pressure or fuel pump sound. Checked for power with multimeter, 12v on fuel gauge level wire but zip on the fuel pump wire. Also tried swapping relays with horn and fuel pump, relay seems fine. Maybe a bad connection at the fuse box for that terminal? That wire maybe got severed in the crash? Which relay terminal should I be checking for puel pump power? THANK YOU FOR READING 💚 Wondering where exactly power should be coming from and leaving to the fuel pump
Since this puppy has been the recipient of a front end accident, be sure to check, better yet thump to trip the inertia switch to cause it to trip & its indicator pops up & push it back down to reset it in a new clean contact spot & see if that brings joy.
If not, check the auto shutdown relay in the under-hood power distribution box. If in doubt about its goodness, swap it out with a like known good part# relay not needed to start, or run the engine.
If still no joy, scan for trouble code clues & post All code Numbers as they can help focus a trouble shoot. If no scan-tool, or code reader, we can activate the vehicle diagnostic system to scan for & display any pending or set trouble code clues in the vehicle dash info center, by turning the ignition key from Off to On/Run, stopping at On / Run the 3rd time. (Dont Crank The Engine). Then view the dash info center, write down & post All code Numbers.
