2001 neon inlet tube replacement questions
Trying to help a friend. They say they need the inlet tube replaced. In my research, it seems likely this is only needing an o-ring, but since they have the new tube already, I will just install it. My question = is this just a bolt or two, and a good yank, or am I gonna have to remove major components like intake, or water pump, etc. I have to travel to do this, and want to make sure I come prepared so it isn't a wasted trip. Thank you in advance.
I found that the fan assembly, and airbox being removed made it much easier to remove the inlet tube. 4 bolts total to remove it. 3 of them are for a bracket. It can't be pulled straight out though. It has interference. Instead you have to rotate the top towards you, and it will come right out. To install the be one you will have to again rotate it in the reverse of removal. I also found that the new part was a very tight fit. So tight that I had to do a little prying to get it to rotate around as I installed it. Was pretty frustrating, but if you keep calm and use some logic it will go in with minimal force once you pry it a bit to clear the bolt hole flange it will get caught on.
