NGC???
So I was ready some questions in this forum and found that someone said this
"NGC= Next Generation Controller
its the computer that the '03+ models use. it tries to keep the power output at the stock level. sux dont it?"
https://dodgeforum.com/m_196474/tm.htm
So I have a 05 sxt, i want to put a CAI and a cat back exhaust, does this mean that even if I make this modifications to my car, im not going to get any good performance out of them?
Can I disable the NGC
Or can someone explain what the HELL is a NGC
thanks

You will make power with modifacation with a ngc but you wont make as much as non ngc car with same modification. A cia will only give 2-3h/p maybe. Don't get me wrong there are alot of pll that have went 110hp(stock) too the 130's h/p but that required all the bolt ons and also some head work and some bigger cams.
this is one of my friends mod lists and he made 135h/p on the dyno
2004 neon sxt, iceman, 60mm tb, ported plastic manifold, p+p head with 3 angle valve job and 1mm os valves, #12 crane cam, TTI lt, vibrant exhaust, mpx udp, AEM cam gear, 27mm front sway bar, mm inserts, hawk pads, vibrant strut bar, 17 " Konings, eibach pro kit, srt struts, rear srt sway bar, energy suspension bushings, sts

Sadly, too slow is right in an aspect. WHP IS, unfortunately at 110ish. You have to cancel out Horsepower lost through the drive train etc. etc. So the Stock ratings are always higher by about atleast 10 horses due to loss of power.
On the other hand you WILL get a good overall gain with a new CAI and new exhaust. The difference being that you have limiters built into your car that you cant get past. If you start getting into the bigger aspects of your car with all the bolt-ons, you might want to invest in a piggy back chip. It will operate in the stock perameters keeping your stock limits (no way to modify the newer gens PCM's as of yet). The newer piggy back will modify the air/fuel ratio and allow for more power out of your engine (which will set you up just fine, you just still cant go past 120 mph). I unfortunately hate this problem too. I wish there was a way and I myself have been extensively looking for a way to modify this. I found a few but they are only good up to 02 (i posted these earlier, and yes the Kenne Bell i believe was a full ECU FLASH).
So, your car really WHP wise puts out 110 - 112 horses. That is pretty woosy stock yes, but then again you take into consideration other bigger bulkier cars on the road, we are set up evenly as they need more of the power to drag its body around on the road, we are lighter so we need less power to get around. Upgrades are virtually endless for your neon.
You can go through all the boltons (getting you up to around 130 actual WHP), go through and rebuild your engine (bringing you way up there with a good gain in HP) and you can even turbo your little engine to get it up there around 200 horses +. Mods take time and money, dont get lost. Some of the best earlier upgrades are a fair combo of cheap and expensive.
Hope I helped you out a bit. Neons are project cars, never loose sight of that. Takes effort but once its done and done right, no regrets.

Yeah, that drives me crazy as well. What Piggyback system would you reccomend freerider?
Something that would fit my ATX '05.
There's the jet chip on howell automotive, but I don't know if it will work or not.
I recently dropped $30 on a performance module, and as far as everyone around here says,
it's weak.

alright guys, I'll apologize you guys. But I wasn't lying about the dyno. I'm not kidding you guys, idk maybe my car is different, I bought it used so idk what it had done to it. I have beat cars with over 140 hp with guys driving that I know very well. They know how to drive, trust me.
man, you're talking trash and you don't even know what your car is running? Find out what you've got before you start into the trash talking. This site is about a common interest not about knocking each other down. If you want trash talk, go to Nexopia or one of the other dealer's forums. We really are a nice bunch of guys around here and easy to get along with. It's all about support and sharing knowledge. Post your dyno run or some timeslips before you say that his car is trash. Just remember no matter how fast your car is, there's most likely someone out there who's faster. We've got a knowledgeable group of guys on here, so if you need help identifying parts or problems with your car, you can ask here without fear. We might poke fun, but don't let that stop you from asking some dumb questions.
