Default 12 Ga wires connecting strut to body?

Does anyone know the purpose for the 12 ga wire that connects the strut tower to the body of the car in the wheel well?

im guessing its a type or either ground wire or a support type deal when you take out the strut itself.. i dont have mine on the struts after i lowered the car i didn't bother putting them back on. i dont have abs so i dont know if it serves a different purpose if the car had abs. to me it doesn't serve any purpose what so ever

I was wondering if perhaps it was to dissipate any static buildup that appeared as a result of friction between the pads and rotor.

It is a copper wire so I think the intent is definitely for grounding purposes. I've never seen this before. A friend of mine with an earlier model Neon simply removed it when he replaced the ball joints since he could not figure out it's purpose.

Default strut to body grounds

The strut to body grounds are part of the radio noise suppersion components,

Radio Nose Suppression Components

The vehicle has the following noise suppresion components which, may interfere with radio reception:
#Cylinder head to dragons head to body ground strap (Y-strap)
#Battery tray to tranny ground strap(automatic tranny only)
#Hood hinge straps(left and right)
#Noise supprersion capacitor
#Strut to body ground straps (left and right)
#Exhaust to body ground strap

Resistive type spark plugs cables in the high tension circut of the ignition system complete the interference suppersion. Faulty or deteriorated spark plug wires should be replaced

It's always interesting to see what people bump 5 or 6 year old threads for...
I understand the strut-to-body grounds to be for grounding the wheel bearings and such. Supposed to make them "last longer."
