this is probably a stupid question but then again how do you learn...

i know that a higher temp thermostat will make the engine run cooler...but is there any downsides or worries with this application

if theres a site that i missed that explains this just post a link...thanks

lower temp thermostat should make your car run cooler. The only thing it is going too change is often your radaiter fan comes on.

Going to a cooler thermostat makes the engine's computer think that it's running hotter. The thermostat is what reminds the engine that it needs to cool itself. There is a range of temperatures that your engine will run most efficiently. Running too cool and you risk losing some of that efficiency. A 160 degree thermostat isn't all that suitable for colder climates, but a 180 degree thermostat will serve you just fine.
