Amp Installation
i have a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT and im trying to install an amp and subwoofers but the factory stereo does not have RCA outputs. does anyone know how to install the amp? do i need some kind of converter?
if you want to keep the stock stereo, for what ever reason, reduce the likelyness of theft or what ever, you will need a signal output converter... you just hook up your speaker wires to it and it gives you rca outputs...you can get it at walmart for under 20.00...your best bet though would be to just get an aftermarket stereo...it would sound better and be less of a hastle.
i have the stock head unit with an amp and speakers in the trunk (i am against subs) and i used the converter. it worked fine and i also dont run the risk of blowing my stock interior speakers with a head unit
i dont think youll have any problems blowing stock speakers with an aftermarket deck....stock speakers suck compared to aftermarket...but they dont suck that bad... even my 70W X 4 deck doesnt hurt the speakers..(obviously it isnt true 70W)
agree with above mentioned... get a decent aftermarket deck...the SQ that the aftermarket deck will only help the subs performance and ability to sound good...if cash is the problem search ebay for panasonic pioneer alpine... all those are good decks and should serve your purpose well.

Line Output converters can have a greater gain and more bass. yet it doesn't have the sound quality. But for ease and price go with the line output converter.

you shouldnt really blow the speakers in the car..you would have to play the music at an ear piercing level to blow them... if they do replace them.. but out of all the speakers i upgraded.. the tweeters in the dash i should have left alone... the magnets on them are so strong its crazy...besides its not that hard to put a new cd player in there anyway.. just remember to get all the brackets so it will fit...unless you get a direct replacement for the stock stereo
