Default Engine running rough, throwing codes

Hello all!

My mom has an '04 neon with a stumbling problem. A couple weeks ago we went on a trip with the car, and the engine light came on. Took it to the shop, they did a major tuneup under warranty, and we got it back. I was driving it home from the shop, and the engine light came back on. It feels like it has a miss. The light comes on when the car is completely warmed up. Using the On Off On Off On igntion key procedure, I pulled codes using the Odometer readout. I got a code P0300-Multiple Cylinder Misfire and a P0304 Cylinder No. 4 misfire. Is this strictly an ignition problem, or a fuel delivery problem? We called the shop again, they said they could change the in-tank filter for a total of more than 300 dollars. My mom already gave them over 200 to do a tuneup that didn't fix the problem.

Anyone got any suggestions for me? Thanks guys!

Find a different dealer, and then call Chrysler Customer Service to complain about the dealer (you did go to a dealer, right?). They charged you for warranty work? Then they didn't fix the problem, and now want to fix a misfire by replacing a non-existent filter? The lifetime fuel filter is part of the regulator assmebly, and is outside the tank. It would take a severely clogged filter to cause a misfire, and it ain't gonna happen in your car short of dumping a pound of sand in the filler tube. These bozos deserve legal action, in my opinion...

I'd be willing to bet that part of the severely overpriced, unnecessary tune-up included $8 a plug (they charged you probably double that) platinum plugs, which have no business in a wasted spark DIS system like yours. I'd pull the plugs, replace them with copper plugs, make sure the wires are all seated properly, and make sure the coilpack is plugged in all the way. That's a tune-up on a Neon...

Best of luck!
