I dont know too much about the 1st gen - second gen springs... but what i do know...

is if your getting new springs, you should get new struts and definately an allignment! You would also think of balancing your car (go to a place that has pressure plates your car sits on) and get the springs where they should be.

Yes, 1st gen springs will lower the car. You don't need 1st gen struts, they won't fit your spindles. You don't need new struts, the spring rates are the same (unless you get 1st gen ACR springs, which are only marginally stiffer in front, and the same in back).

If you remove the struts, which you do to replace the springs, then you will need an alignment when you are done.

Unless you are autocrossing or road racing, you do not have any reason to balance the car. The springs only fit one way, and that is "where they should be". What the heck?...

Best of luck!
