Default When I change my spark plugs...

...should I disconnect the battery?

Just make sure you key is out of the ignition, that should be safe enough. You can disconnect the battery if you want to be extra safe but I never do.

The FSM says to disconnect the battery for nearly anything having to do with electricity... including spark plug replacement. It's a bit overkill though. I could see pulling the fuel pump fuse maybe, but I just disconnect the connector at the coilpack.

Remote start systems. An uncle of mine works for a dealer and once a mechanic was working on a car, replacing a belt, and the car just started cranking over by itself....not pretty....the owner forgot to mention that the system was malfunctioning.
