Default Mitsubishi Motor??

Just wondering.... has anybody heard of someone modding their neon to fit a 2.0 DOHC from a laser/talon/eclipse? Just curious to see if that would be possible... and if so, are the transmissions compatible?

Transmission from a Chrysler motor will not accept a transmission from a Mitsubishi motor. As for a conversion...if someone can put a 4G63 into honda...then, yes, it can be done and yes with a lot of money spent. Everyone will just tell you that you're nuts and to just go and buy the car, lol.

The 4g63 swap has been done in a neon. It wasn't easy, it wasn't pretty. But at least it's done, just to prove it's possible...

Or were you referring to the 2nd gen non-turbo Eclipse/etc.? Those have the 420A, which is the same block as all the 2.0L Neon motors. Uses the same NV T-350 tranny as well (3.94 final drive with taller 5th) with a different bellhousing. The head is reverse flow, so you'd need some creativity trying to get the Mitsu intake and exhaust manifolds to route OK. I don't see the point in that swap though... 140 HP DOHC vs. the Neon 150 HP DOHC or Magnum 150 HP SOHC... That's been done too, by the way, along with a pretty hefty turbo.

Best of luck!

it would be very unique... yes... but for the cost and HEADACHE you could get something a little more easily adaptable and end up with a lot more bang for your buck
