Default cluster w/ tach ?

I have a 00 neon, it originally had the cluster without the tach, but i went out and bought the sxt cluster, the one with the tach. I noticed everything is working normal but im just wondering what the little red circle in the top right corner is meant for??? My old cluter didnt seem to have that little red circle, but this one does, but i dont know what it is for?? thanks. juan.

I dont think so, there is another display on the left side that says ABS. So i doubt its for that. Its just a circle that lights up red sometimes and times when it doesnt, i havent notice when it does or it doesnt, but i just dont know what its for?? thanks.

Well i'm too lazy to walk out to my car and do this myself...so get a flash light and shine it on the cluster, you'll be able to see the outline of the symbol very clearly. Then crack open your owners manual and there will be a key of symbols that will tell you what each one means. Even if your car didnt come with the tach cluster all these should still be in there.

if it is a little red dot that flashes about three times when you start up it is the "security thingy".

I guess that "security thingy" would make more sense, but i will try to find out and see if there is anything around to see what it might be. Since i dont have an alarm, i guess it would make sense if it would be on all the time, or off, but theres times where its on and times when its off. My car is all manual too, nothing electric. thanks.

yup, its a security thingy... if you had the optional 'security things' installed, after you hit the lock button the little red light blinks to let you know the car's high-tech alarm system is armed

yup, thats it. if you dont have the security system, it should just come on for a second or two and go off.
