Default Xtronic CVT

This is the new transmission nissan is using. This it awsome, if done right this could be the next biggest thing in racing, imagine runnin a 1/4 mile and never having to shift!!!! And you are always in your power band!!

Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission)
Rather than using a few fixed gear ratios like a conventional transmission, Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) transfers power through two variable pulleys and a high-strength steel belt. This delivers a near-infinite number of ratios and keeps your engine within its optimum power range at all times for maximum acceleration. Xtronic CVT also comes with a manual mode. Perfect for those times you want more control.

Never said it related to a neon, just never heard of it and thought it was pretty cool.

It is kind of suprising, with how old the technology is, tht it hasnt been used in widespread previous to now. The CVT is now in Nissans, Dodge's, Fords, Honda's, and i'm sure a few other brands. I've never driven one, but i understand the first time you do drive a CVT, its really strange because your always waiting for the tranny to shift, and it never does! I must be old fashioned, but i just love the sound, and feel of shifting and revving high RPM's...call me crazy...

Audi has one, Volvo had one about 20 or so years ago. The reason they hadn't been used widely was that those transimissions couldn't handle the power until they solved the problem how to make the belt last.
