Default gauge question

i might get an intake temp gauge and there are a few choices and i dont know what the differences are hopefully someone will. they are from autometer and the different names like phantom and ultralite im assuming are just different looks or models, please correct me if i am wrong. then there are ones that have a Type K Thermocouple and there are ones with 2 temperature modules and Type K Thermocouples. what is the difference

Ummm....from the sounds of it you are looking an EGT gauge. Also known as exhaust temperature guage. It lets you know how hot the exhaust gases are in your engine. I have one but have not hooked the probe up yet because my intention was to put turbo on the car so I have yet to tap my exhaust manifold. But you are supposed to put the probe in the manifold where it will be the hottest so you get the most accurate reading. Its mostly used to see if your car is running lean/rich. At least thats what it looks like to me anyhow. As far as the choices you mentioned I believe autometer makes most of them. And as far as I know they are just different looks. One might read higher then the other, not totally sure.
