Default Cold Air Intake Questions

Alright Im going to be gettin extra hours at another job and some nicer engine mods arent completely out of the question now, unfortunately i have to get dad's permission on anything i do to the car, so i need to ask you guys a few questions about a cold air intake so i can argue with him better...

Any downsides i should know about? Will the filter get dirty faster because its no longer in a box? Any difference in cold weather (it gets pretty cold here)? Would anyone happen to have a picture of a cold air intake on their car i could look at (2.0 w/o abs, 2000-up)?

It may be a while before i do this because i want to upgrade the exhaust at the same time

Im really glad this forum is here because id be in the dark about a lot of stuff , thx guys for ur help

There is no downside to having a CAI installed, it will not get any more dirty any faster than your stock filter. The cold weather should have no impact on the performance of the CAI, and any CAI built for an 00+ Neon will work, whether it has ABS or not...

oh there is one draw back and it is you can hydro lock the motor easier but you got be in pretty deep water for this too happen. So if you don't plan on driving your neon trough small lakes you should be good

The only drawback I can think of is that it will decrease your gas mileage by a bit......just cuz you'll be getting "on it" alot more to get that thing up to about 3k RPMs where with a CAI it sounds freakin awesome!

oh and if you wanna some pics I got some on my profile pics....you can see it there. Just click on my name then go to my gallery.....hope it helps.
