Is it worth it?
Is it worth it to mod a 2002 Neon with a 4speed? Will you notice a performance increase with like a cold air intake, 60mm TB, Exhaust ext..? Or will it just be a waste of money?
I mean I raced my friends moms Chevy prism and got my --- kicked in 4th gear, it was sad.

hey, I have a 2002 4-speed auto and I put a CAI and a free flowing muffler on it and it does better. The initial take off is still doggy. A performance computer might help. Either way, the 5-speed is the way to go as far as performance is concerned.

Ehh.....I have an '03 four speed and I have a CAI, Free flowing muffler, plug wires and plugs, and headers and mine is still "doggy" off the line but once it gets goin it's not all that bad....I know I can at least beat the a new suzuki Aerio....lol I raced one at a stoplight after we both came out from watching the Tokyo Drift movie lol...I got my but wooped by a chevy Malibu though......at least I sounded good while loosing.....

Theres a way around the soggy start but its not pretty.
A fellow loonatic showed me ho to "Drop" the gears in.
He basicaly feathers the auto stick until its not actualy in gear, then reves the engine somewhat, and when its got a good head of setam, drops it into gear......
I would no recomend this to anyone who wants their transition to last longer than a month though. I herd some interesting "Grinding" noises... LOL
If you want to get a good shot off the line, invest in some No2.
A very small injection does wonders for the Auto-trannys 'starting' performance.
A fellow loonatic showed me ho to "Drop" the gears in.

thats a great idea.... just dont come back here crying after you pay for your new tranny.... dont give the guy advice like that! thats a sure fire way to kill the trans, and i mean in a hurry!
I will say one thing though,,,, i learned that the hard way... $2000 dollars later my moms old cavalier drove again. Of course that was 5 years ago, and i've learned alot since then

Yes mod it but only 3 things are needed.
1) CAI
2) 60 mm throttle body from modernpeformance
3) Cat back exhaust
No header or highflow cat and no chip or intake manifold set up is going to get you anything substancial that would actually validate getting them.
If you want more power TURBO KIT, TURBO KIT, TURBO KIT. Believe me boost is where it's at!
Then if that's not enough srt-4 motor or a different car. DSM all wheel drive or a supra crankin out over 500whp with 20+ psi.
But as a last thought yes mod it, it is worth the gain of the 10 hp over the stock hp and ****ty sound. And turbo eventually that's what I'm doing. Good luck and next time you'll get your friend in 2nd, 3rd and 4 gear. Hell ya!!!

If I did those mods, do you think i could take the Chevy prism? I mean I was probly up 3 feet on him in every gear, but when we both hit 4th at the same time, he just pulled like 3 cars ahead of me. Do you really think those mods would make me win? I know it will never be fast without the 5speed, but I just wana race my friends cars that are in my class, my friends drive like cavaliers and stuff like that, and their all automatics, but the prism toasted me and it pissed me off.
It was like the final gear was way off or something cuz he pulled me like a **** in 4th.
