2001 sunroof won't work
I have a 2001 Dodge Neon, the sunroof has quit working. It will work intermittently now, occasionaly opens, but then doesn't want to close. When I activate the switch, I can hear a clikcing sound in then control box next to the motor. What is the best way to test all 3 components, and are there any tricks to intalling a new motor? Thanks
I had the same problem with my 2001 ES. The sunroof came out of the track and I was getting a clicking noise from the motor. I removed the glass with 6 torx screws and put the track back together. Now the glass opens and closes but I do get a clicking from the motor. I removed the motor by removing the visors, sunroof switch, sunroof molding, handles above the front side doors. And lowering the headliner the problem is I do not know if the clicking is from the motor gear or the worm gear that connects to it or both. There are aftermarket kits on ebay that have metal slides and cables instead of the original cheap plastic ones. I may end up getting it. You can also get a new aftermarket motor. With those 2 items I would think that would cover it.
