Default installing an SXT cluster on my 02 ?? (feasible?)

Alright.

My dodge is a very plain dodge.
The only electrical device there in is the sterio. Everything else is manual.
(not even a trunk release... ??)

The dash is fine.
The cluster however, kinda sucks. All I have is the Speedo, and the heat and fuel guages. A little plainJane for me.

So, the idea came to me to swap out the cluster with an SXT cluster, I love the black on white, and Id really love to have the RPM guage so I know whats going on when Iv got my sterio cranked.

How feasible is this?.
At a glance they look like identicle footprints, the only differnace seems to be the readouts and dials.

My next question is..
If you just swap the two clusters in their entirety, would it screw up the milage?. Or is that digital output stored away from the console.

Has anyone done this, and do ya have any tips?

Complete bolt on item...buy the new cluster, take off the dash pad, remove a few screws, take off the connectors, and put the new one in and do the process again backwards. The mileage is stored in the cluster, unlike other car brands which store the mileage in the ECU...so try and find a cluster close to your real mileage.

Ah, that sucks!

I wonder if I can pull that off my old cluster and install it on the "new" one....

Or, perhaps theres a way to electronicaly move the clock forward.....

I have 446?? K miles on it. Gonna be tricky finding a cluster close to that. LOL

Another project for me to record and post..
:-)

Pretty sure thats called "Odometer Fraud", which, last time i checked is pretty serious...

As for switching the memory unit from the cluster, many have tried, none have succeeded...there was a rumor that a dealership could flash your new mileage onto the old cluster, but its next to impossible to find one that would do it.

What I was wondering is if it's also odometer fraud if say your car has 100 000 kms on it and you put a new odometer it, which would then show 0? Your car would always show 100 000 kms less but how would you ever be able to put a new odometer in?

what I was saying is:
I want to replace my Od (well, whole cluster), which has 44k on it and say I get one that displays 25k then manualy move it forward to 42k so it reads the correct milage for my car, thats fine as far as I know (or have been told by the sherifs office).
If I just slap the new Od in that reads 25k and do nothing, thats fraud....
