Default Adding an amp and subs

I have a 05 SXT and want to add an amp and subs. Does the factory stereo have pre outs for this, or do I have to get an amp that has speaker level inputs and splice into the factory wiring?

It won't have pre outs, and the easiest way to wire it is to the rear speakers with a crossover.

never heard of that one, but many amps have built in crossovers. In that case it's fine.

If it has high level inputs, and has a LPF setting, which most good brand name amps do, you have nothing to worry about. Lots of amps need a connector for their high level imputs, so you might have to find the proper connector. Even if you make the install yourself, I would seriously advise talking to the guy at your local car audio shop about it. They will give you helpful tips about installation and setup for free (unless they're jerks, which is always possible). I installed mine all myself but the guy at the car audio shop near me gave me a couple setup hints and after I follow his hints I got twice the volume out of my sub and speakers.

JUST GO BUY A HIGH LOW BYPASS.THERE FAIRLY CHEAP $20-$30.They hook up to the stock deck and supply the rca lines you need to run the amp. They also have an adjustable output level so you can match it to the power of the amp.I have one in my car made by stinger with gold binding posts.Works pretty good.I noticed it also cleared up some of the high level distortion in my other speakers. But to get that you have to make sure you hook up the optional ground that it has.
