it will give you an idea of how far off the guage is. The computer is accurate, the markings on the guage usually are not and are off more than you think. Another way easier way to do it is to not let your gas get that low, better for the pump too.

 

But my gauge is also inconsistent. The gauge can show a quarter tank when I shut it off, and next time I start it, it will show half a tank. Sometimes it will drop to empty and then go straight up to full. There is no way of really knowing how much gas you have when it does that.

 

What is the tank size on these cars (Mine is a 2004)..I think my gauge is off, but in a good way...I can never put more than 8.5 gallons in the thing, even if I let it go way down to E.... tanks gotts be bigger than that, no?...but this way, I figure, I'll never run out of gas!

 

i believe our tanks are 12 gallons

 

its 12.5 gallons. its in the manual somewhere. so i filled up yesterday or the day before and when my tank goes into empty(around 300 miles) i still had 1 gallon left in it. so i guess im just gonna wait till it gets to around that before i fill.

 

How many miles does everyone get on a full tank?? And how much do you spend filling it up? I spend about $30 to fill my tank with Chevron 89.

 

According to the gauge: I get about 100-120 miles out of the first 1/4 tank, about 75-80 out of the second. Then, I consider it a good tank if I go 300 miles before the light comes on in the last 1/4. Then I typically don't go more than an additional 40 miles (getting close to the peg. I've never seen the light blink. I'm averageing 30-31 mpg. Then I put in between 10 and 11.5 gallons to fill it. Always, Always 89+. 92-94 oct in the summer.

 

I bought my car used back in Jan. and right after I signed the papers and was waiting for the plates to be transfered, they brought
the car up front and was just about to get in when they decided they would start it for me. Nothing happened. After a few more attempts they noticed there was no gas in the car. My test ride and the test ride they did after putting new tires and brakes on used up whatever gas was in the tank. I guess the light never came on. The 'gas pump light' comes on when I start my car along with all the others, but it is the only time I see it. I've gotten my car to where the needle is just below the red square and still no light. My car is an '02 if it makes any diff.
