I have a 2000 with the 3spd tranny and was woundering how much wheel horse power it can stand stock. I will be installing a performance torque converter before I install my new engine which if it helps will have performance pistons and rods, port and polished head, comp cams servere street/ race camshaft and a t3/t4 turbo. I see on howell automotive that they sell a performance rebuild kit for the transmission just woundering if it will hold up to all this stock.

 

Swap in a 5-speed and be happier than trying to get performance out of the stock ATX tranny. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it costs more than most are willing to pay. Here is a site that talks about the neon 3-spd tranny...
