Default Brake problem???

When I first start up my car after it has been sitting, and drive off the brakes will squeek when I go to brake. It only does this until I hit 20 MPH or so. I took it to my mechanic and he said the brakes were fine...[:-]

So I was wondering if anyone knows why they only squeek til' I hit 20 MPH???

Thanks,

Where do you live. If you have disks especially, they will rust up pretty quick where it's warm and humid. This scraps off pretty quick, about like you have described. I had to park my car in long term parking at the airport in Cincinnati for a week once and it rained alot while I was gone. When I pulled out the brakes poped, and then scraped until I got ou of the lot, then they were fine. I garage my car most of the time so this is not typical for me. I think the harder the rotor material the faster it rusts.

That could be due to the soap. Most soaps have some caustic in them. Caustics attack steel.

I live in ohio, I just hate the noise it makes and it is very annoying...I was just wondering if there is a way to keep it from doing that?

The most I ever let my car sit would be less than 24hr(normally just over night), keeping it in a garage is not possible b/c I am currently in college, so any advice or alternate solutions will be very helpful.

Thanks,
