I am having a weird problem with my '00 Neon. Sometimes when I stop and turn off the lights and the car, the tail lights stay on. No other lights, just the tail lights. Occasionally, turning the ignition on-off will cause them to go out. Sometimes, tapping the steering column will also cause them to go off. The problem is beginning to occur more often so any help/thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

 

Do you have a tilt wheel? Could be a short in the steering column. Also check the ground wires at the tail light. A bad ground can cause wierd issues. JIM.
