Default Why Swap?!

I'm new to the site but every time read were someone want to build up a 2.0, their are people who say right off swap to 2.4. Why? Their are strong 2.0 out on the market like the 4g63 and the dodge 2.0 is made by Mitsubishi any ways! I joined the site to get help and you guys have good points. Guys like their cars and have different point of veiw but their are a lot of people saying swap. I joined to learn about neons not srt4 and help others if I can.

The reason everyone's telling you to swap is because you posted you wanted to make 450 HP. That kind of horsepower is out of most everyone's range here, especially on the 2.0. It's possible, but the kind of person that has enough money to do it normally doesn't drive a Neon. The 2.4, even though it cost some money to swap in, needs much less work for that kind of power, therefore cost less money, and that's why everyone's suggesting it. If you've got the money and want to tune your 2.0 that far, go for it, I wish I could. All I can say is that it will probably lose a lot of driveability at that level of tuning. You will most likely lose a lot of bottom end as you gain the top end power. If you have a standard this will be a pain for regular driving, especially stop and go, and if you have an automatic you may even need to put in a different torque converter so it won't engage until a higher RPM. That's just my prediction. High horsepower engine almost always lose a lot of bottom end, unless you happen to be Enzo Ferrari and have multi-million dollar budgets to develop your engine, in which case, why are you driving a Neon?

That's an accurate explanation by me.

I agree with timplett. To elaborate a little more...

The aftermarket for the neon is lacking, big time. The aftermarket for the 2.4l is almost un-ending. Like i mentioned in the other thread, you really need to go MTX. I don't know you or your financial situation, but building that ATX is gonna take some money.

the 450bhp you are looking for is obtainable, without a doubt. ****, build that bottom end... the right fuel system, a GT35r, and a megasquirt system and you'll be there with ease. Pick up a quaife diff and some beefy axels and your golden. Don't be discourage by most of these answers. The swap is a quick and painless alternative for those that don't want to or don't know how to tune. Even if you didn't know how to tune, i'm sure there is a local tuner in your area that can set the VE tables for you and you'll be just fine. I suggest learning though... temp and humidity changes can throw off a tune. If you can't adjust it yourself, you may be in some danger.

I don't doubt the 2.0l. lol I made stock SRT-4 whp/wtq with a SOHC and only 10psi. If you got the time and the funds, i say go for it.
