hey i bought this chip a couple months ago for like 55 $ on ebay and they told this whole story on wat it does it sais it takes of the government regulations off so the motor can breathe better and stuff haha sounds like a good story to me

 

most likely it connects to your iat and is just a resistor. sorry to break this news to you but you prob got ripped off

 

yep. nothing but a good story. those ebay "ECU"'s are nothing but an overpriced resister. They do NOTHING. There is no way to tap an 03+ neon's ECU and reprogram it that you can buy off the market. 00-02's do have some but they cost a bit more than 55 bucks.

Nothing will get it to breathe better from an ECU. ECU chips do nothing but adjust fuel curves for better performance. NO ecu will allow for better breathing. Only way to allow better breathing is to free up the intake and exhuast.

if im not mistaken a chip will try and fool the IAT sensor into thinking the air coming in is 0 degrees therefore richening the fuel mixture slightly. neons tend to run a little rich anyway and many people have said it trips the engine light on.

 

As said before, any chip for any year 2nd gen Neon is totally worthless. The 00-02 have one type of aftermarket PCM's to choose from and all 00-05 Neons have the choice of MegaSquirt.

 

What is a Megasquirt? So you guys say that all chips don't work for the second gen. neons? Does this include when you send off your ECU for reprogramming too?

 

For any year neon for that matter. There is no "magical" chip for our cars.

As far as MS goes, the .org has a lot of information about it, and theres currently a project in the works to help us NGC'ers run MS much easier. Its still "fairly" easy to run MS on the 03+, is just not as simple as on the 00-02.
