in the first place why do you need a UDP if your installing a sub, you would be better off with upgrading your battery and alternater. with mine this all i did and it works fine. what a UDP is good for is your pulley;s!!!!!!! it will release some baggage from the engine and give more power and toruqe!!!!

You shouldnt have any problems, but if your lights start dimming or anything like that just install a grounding kit and swap over to the PT Cruiser or the 2005 Neon alternator. Otherwise lose the UDP because since its a smaller diameter the alternator isnt getting what it used too...either find a lightweight UDP thats stock size or put the stocker back on if the problem comes up.

That's been one of my problems. My lights would dim and when I gased the car up the lights would light up then dim again. I have a pretty heavy sound system along with the AFX Udp. I believe it was my alternator so I'm currently in the process of replacing it. I'm going to get another Optima battery again but this time I'll get the most powerful one. I currently have the red top and I'll be moving to the highest end yellow top.

Isnt it possible to test the alternator and see if it's supplying the battery enough energy?

I think autozone sells amperage testers...but the 98-04 Neons have little 83 amp alternators, the 2005's got the 120amp PT Cruiser alternator which should give you a little extra juice...i would just find a PT Cruiser alt. and call it a day.

I wish I would have got that answer earlier. I ended up getting the reg. alternator for my car. Hopefully It'll be fine.
