This is my first post. Hello.

I was driving a 2000 Neon for about 7 months before someone rear-ended me and totaled the car. I bought it at about 83,000 miles and put 5,500 on it during that span. The good thing is, the accident wasn't my fault, so I have money to buy a new car. I really loved my Neon, and I want to get another one.

Here's my question: I found another 2000 Neon I'm interested in, from a "motivated" seller (they're moving). I know I can get it fairly cheap (around $2000), but it has 120,000 miles on it. I will be bringing someone who knows more about cars than I do to look at it, though the car is very very clean, perfect paint, clean interior, etc. I know with newer engines, high miles aren't always a problem anymore. Are people having good luck keeping their Neons running after 120,000? I'm good about oil changes and repairs. Ideally, I'd like to be able to drive this car for 2-3 years.

My sister also has a Neon, a 2002 at 113,000 and it's running strong. I just thought I'd ask. Thanks a lot.

 

I got a 2000 neon with 123,xxx. I got it from my brother in law..he kept pretty good care of it but when i got it i had to put in alittle bit of money to get it where i wanted ..or want it..Still needs alittle work..But it runs real strong. I only paid $1500. I think i got a good deal they were going to trade it in for a new car..dealer told them they would give them 2300 for it..and it had problems..so i would say if the car is really clean inside and out and the engine is mechanically sound i would say its a good deal Just my opninion!

 

ive got a 2000 with 150XXX miles on it. it still is running great. just make sure you keep up with the routine maintenance and stuff. ive found that since mine is at higher milage i have to check things more often. but there hasnt been any major problems.
