Default Transmission Flush Question

I had gone to the local jiffy lube to get a tranny flush, now i dont know if this guy was trying to see how bad he could rip someone off on that given day or what. I have an 01 neon manual transmission, its the sealed one, ya know no dipstick... He told me that it would cost 225$ To do a tranny flush on my vehicle!!! Is this correct or is this guy a moron?

A manual Transmission???????

Check your manual for the type of fluid your tranny takes.

My '05 takes ATF+4, drain the tranny, put back in. $3.50 a quart at Schmucks, pretty handy as the power steering is the same stuff.

Your getting ripped off, never heard of that (flushing tranny on a manual). My manual says the tranny is a lifetime fluid and shouldn't have to be changed. I will change it at around 50,000 or earlier, old school.

My tranny has a plug at the bottom to drain, then a rubber filler towards the top, I think fill it to the fill hole, not positive.

Fill to the fill hole, when it starts oozing out stop. Overfill is bad.

As for the filter, it might require some disassembly?

(Edit: You theoretically might not need to replace the filter, unless you have un-good stuff in your old tranny fluid.)

I am not sure a manual trans has a filter. I know Auto's do. I doubt it does though as fluid is not being pumped that I'm aware of. Never know though.

Someone else who has the experience would have to chime up.

None of my manual tranny rigs had a filter.
