I wanna paint my interior
Sup everybody my name's Andrew and I'm new here and I was wandering if anyone knew some paint I could use to paint my air vents and little stuff like that in my neon thank's alot everyone later
I'm relatively new here too. Have heard talk of special paints, but I just went and got some Testors model paint for plastic, then used some clear coat on the pasrts, and let everything dry before re-installing. Trick that I had to do was finding the right color that matched the exterior body color. (got lucky with standrad Testors 'Red' is almost exactly the same as Dodge's 'Flame red')
But seeing yer name here, maybe u already have an SXT that has the body color center console painted? u didn't say what year car u have or color. I only had an SE and wanted my center consloe painted like the SXT. or maybe u want to change that color?
those 2 vents in the center consloe come out real easy. Just use a screwdriver to pry on the outside of each of them, and they just pop right out. That's how u get to the 2 screws hold the center console on top.(the rest of it is all clips). I also painted the little side defroster vents. they just pop out with a screwdriver. Haven't tried the 2 corner larger vents. Dont know if they pop out the same as the center 2.

I painted some of my interior with red fusion you can by the paint at walmart or any car parts store! Works the best for plastic and vinyl. For my vents and hvcc controls I got some red covers for them .
MAKE SURE you prep the surface meaning sand every square inch then wash it, then paint it a few light coats and finally get some clear coat finish, I HATE seening good cars with FUC*ED up painted interior pieces, it runs the whole car, I wouldn't paint anything but that's my opinion. I have the center console thats blue from the factory that looks sexy as hell but thats becuase it has a clear coat and looks exactly like the outside of my car.
haha. agreed. If you painting it... paint it right. Don't use just any ordinary spray paint either. Yick!!!! and when going over it, make sure to do real LIGHT coats... nothing is more displeasing then RUNS!!!
Good Luck.
Good Luck.
I only painted my inside pillers red and my speedo thing around where the gauges are in red also and painted my intake red and fuse box red and doesnt look bad at all. Some of it I had to use a primer than paint but thats what you have to do to make it look really nice!
i used folia tech interior paint on my car, but it cost like 17.00 a can.....but it was worth it, it layed on there real good and didnt run or anything......i called my car the blue bomb since it was all blue...these were the only pics i could find of it...just to show the point of the blue bomb there is a pic of under the hood too....

The best way to match is to use Mopar paint! I sanded, used Duplicolor primer/filler to smooth the texture. Sanded some more. Used Mopar color match paint....$9 from the dealer. Then cleared it with Duplicolor clear, sanded(800), cleared, sanded(1000), cleared, sanded(1500=polishing)....done! Sorry about the cell phone pics, waiting to get a new digi. but here's how it came out, I am relatively happy with it.

The thing is plastic sucks to paint comming from my autobody experiance.... you feel the parts and they feel greasy, thats a release agent from when they molded your parts, if you dont clean this properly eventually your paint will delaminate and look like crap. goto a body shop supply store and look for a TPO cleaner, or ask them for a cleaner to remove release agents. once thats done you need to clean it yet again with a pre paint prep/cleaner (it wont leave and solvents behind to cause fish eyes ETC) when your ready to spray 1st coat use a plastic adhesion promoter, let it flash, 1 med-wet coat or sealer, flash, 2-3 coats of base, flash, and 1-2 coats of clear. Flash times and product deposition are dependant on manufactures spec.
Why go through all this when you can spray bomb? depends on what you want for quality. Can based paint/primers/sealers/clears are not that durable and ususally loose their gloss and shine and eventually peel. Real auto urathane based paints are more expensive but you get what you pay for. The other benefit is when you go get paint mixed you can get the color matched to your VIN code. If you get paints matched just by the color code on your car, there can be up to 10 or more variances on that actual color. You VIN will identify what plant your car was painted at. and what paint batch it was painted with and give you accurate match.
thats my .02 cents
