what was dodge thinking in discontinuing the great neon and making that under powered cardboard box on wheels.
The Neon wasnt selling all that well, the poor publicity of the 1st gen headgasket problem never left the brand and Dodge didnt do enough to promote the Neon...the name "Neon" just didnt go hand in hand with "quality", "performance", "reliabiltiy" and "value" like other sport compacts did because of the bad reputation and Dodge's inhability to promote the Neon in any way. Thats why they insisted ALL magazines and publications that reviewed the SRT-4 never even mention the word "Neon" in the vehicles title...

The Neon wont be around for a while...maybe they'll revive the Name in ten years or so, but its not happenign anytime int he near future. I would actualy consider the Caliber if it werent for the underpowered R/T and lack of a good transmission...it also has to be a sedan or coupe...i hate the "4-door hatch" with a passion.

Could not have said it better myself! They NEVER advertised the NEON!

Well alot hated the looks of the neon when it came out and pretty popular now and the calibers are going that way also! They are ok to me and I test drove the r/t awd model is awesome but rather get a dodge nitro r/t . But have a 07 gray sti coming in for me !

Very true, a lot of people didnt like the looks of the 1st Gen when it came out, i happen to be one of those people and still dont like the looks even 10+ years later...and the only way my outlook on the Caliber will change will for Dodge to make a sedan or coupe variant, which will never happen. I've also test driven one R/T AWD with the CVT and i can say it is much slower than my current R/T...the only Caliber with any factory performance is the SRT-4, and even that is slower than the current SRT-4 because of weight and lack of AWD to put the power to the ground.

The thing kinda reminds me of a Pontiac Aztec. (the ugliest car to ever make it to production). Caliber is not as bad but it not good company. At least the P/T has some styling. The Caliber is anything but attractive
