Default Engine replacement?

Hello all,

I may be getting a 2002 or 2004 dodge neon sometime soon. It has a 4 cylinder engine in it. I'd like to put either a v6 roush in it, or a v6 ford motor in it. Would either of these motors fit? And if I put a v6 in it, what kind of CAI could I still put on it? Thank you.

wow not to be mean or anything but dont even try it. there is no such thing as a v4. to do a conversion it takes a lot of time and lots of money. anything is possible but not worth it. a cai is a cold air intake and if you can manage to do a v6 conversion, i think you can customize you own. but please dont even try. i dont want to be mean and i am warning you people will start making fun of you after me. sorry if you do go through with it, good luck

Sorry, don't know to much about cars, but trying to learn. I know theres not a v4, simple mistake. I just call it a v4 because.. I'm not sure.

I'm here for help, not for stupidity. If people want to act childish and make fun of someone who wants to learn about cars is pathetic. This isent directed torward you either.

And yes, I know what a cai is.

: bites tounge :

anything will fit if you have enough time and money... Now if you just learning about cars, then i wouldn't even think about that idea anymore. Your talking custom everything... and when i say everything, i mean everything!

If you want a V6, don't buy a neon...

Well, I'm only 16, and my dad knows a pretty good deal about cars, I was just wondering if you could put a V6 in one or not. Since theres too much work involved I'll probaly do a CAI and turbocharger. That will be last though. Do they make tuners for these neons like you can get for the mustang?

not really sure what you mean by "tuners"... care to embellish a little.

Like the predator tuner for the mustang to adjust shutoff, speed, etc.

nope... dodge's computers have been encrypted since the late 80's. They do not give their code out to the aftermarket like most manufacturers. A full stand alone is the only way to go. AEM, megasquirt, or FAST...

yes, replace the ECU with another...

a google search will find you any of the 3 i mentioned. Be aware that the car is your control with a ECU replacement. Meaning you or a professional tuner will have to program everything. Spark, ignition, injector pulse, timing, VE tables, etc... Its not as easy as you may think.

The AEM for the SRT-4 will work with our 03, 04 or 05 neons... your looking at $1700-$2000. Probably the same for the FAST system. Megasquirt is an open source engine management that you build and program yourself, but will save you about $1000.
