i have an 03 neon sxt that i have to drive every day but i want to do some major modefications. but this is the problem i have to drive it every day and i know were i can get an engine for a couple hundred dollers that i could do the work to then transplant it when its done but the engine is out of a 2000-2002 would this be a problem or would it fit right in with the same ecu and all. if not what would i need to make it work.

and when i say extensive work i mean every thing 2.2 stroker kit, with low compression pistons,turbo kit, valves, valve springs, rear sway bar, lsd, rims tires body kit........... the works and im gonna badge it the sxt-4
so if you cold please help it would be great i wanna get this project underway

problem because all of the sensors were changed in 03 and and engine swap is a big job that cant be done in a day. you need to also think of a system (standalone etc) to run it. also you need to beef up brakes suspension clutch etc

 

i planed to do all the suspension that i know i just dont know what im gonna need to make the older engine work.

 

You'll need a complete engine harness and matching PCM to make the 00-02 engine work. In 2003 they changed a lot of the sensors, the PCM, and the crank so it wont work.

 

there are two ways too do it

you can weld on 03 crank trigger on too the 02 motor

or you can swap too 02 ecu but this require just about every harness in the car too swapped too
