probably an easy question to answer, but is it possible totake a 3.55 fd transmission and replace the ring and pinion gear with that from a 3.94 fd tranny? i have taken apart the older transmissions from the days of the omnis and chargers. my dad races with the 2.2 and a 3.87 fd tranny and he wrecked a bearing in the tranny once. i tried to fix it by taking the still good ring and pinion setup out of that tranny and putting it in a 3.56 model. it never really worked right but could have been because i didnt really have the right tools or the know how to do it.

 

has anybody done this or heard of doing this, it certainly would be cheaper for me if its possible. are the ring and pinion gears interchangeable?

 

honestly ive never heard of doing it sorry it sounds like a good idea and i wish i could help
