how much did the setup cost for you mikeY?

 

I'm assuming he bought the preassembled unit from RS, so it should have been around $500 for everything.

 

is it considerably cheaper to set it up yourself?

 

it was about 455 shipped with the ecu, coolant sensor im using a stock iat and the wiring harness. there might be a slight problem with my order though so it may take a bit longer

 

The total DIY route should be about $150 or so cheaper...

 

Really stupid question...but what would you have to do with the DIY one vs the one mike got? I know what it is and what it does, I just haven't taken the time to really read about it. Because if I do what I intend on doing, it would probably be a long time before I would need that.

 

The one Mike bought is already preassembled, the DIY unit comes with all the components, but you have to put the actual MS unit together (wehich includes soldering, putting togerther microprocessor boards, installing chips, etc...).
