Other things to consider are noise. If there's a lot of 2.4Ghz devices around you might want to use 5Ghz instead, but the average laptop isn't 5Ghz compatible, some cell phones are though.
Some other things to consider are what devices you want to connect to the AP with, cell phones have limited range, sometimes you can squeeze a little more with clear line of sight to the AP, laptops have limited range too.
Depends on where the AP would be placed and what you intend to use as an AP. If perfectly in the center with perfectly clear line of sight all around a Mikrotik Groove (or the UBNT equivalent) with a 15dbi Omni Antenna might work.

I run 2.4Ghz in co-existence mode, our cordless phone is 2.5Ghz.
With my current wireles router I can get up to 500 ft with a line of sight to the house, about 100-150ft with no line of sight with my cell phone. I can't run 5Ghz (n mode), so I run mode g (i think? i know it's not B, B is only 11MBps)
On the top floor of the house, it's the highest spot.

Something like:

With the proper antenna. To get multi-directional signal you'd need an omni antenna.
You have no idea what you're missing. The entire run is everything of complete awesome.
I'm itching to watch the finale tomorrow night.
good show. the walking dead is a great show too
speaking of...season 3 should be on netflix now! time to cash in my additional free month and then cancel again on the last day like last time! lol
(haven't paid a dime for netflix but they sent me an additional free trial cause I canceled and didn't renew for over a year)
