There's idiocy, then there's the kind of idiocy that only overcompensation for having too little, uh, well, let us avoid the censor and call it "confidence", can cause. Yonder vehicle exemplifies the latter.

We had a calico that was as tame as any cat I'd seen. But after my 2nd daughter was born, it would sneak in the bedroom when she was sleeping(a newborn at that) and it would scratch the living hell out of her face. The first time, I spanked the cat. The second time we went for a walk to the back 40 and only 1 of us came back.

Then again, the kid in the second .gif was asking for it so I wouldn't blame the cat for that.

thats about how the cat and my little one is...
little one attacks the cat, cat takes her abuse for a while, then eventually he says enough is enough and retaliates.
its like having two toddlers or fighting siblings...she chases the cat everywhere, he always comes back for more and plays with her. she locks him out of his litter box, he pees in her bed and on her favorite stuffed animals while shes at daycare and hes locked out of his litter box...(only we have to clean it up, so his plan for revenge backfired onto us)
he is good with her though. that cat takes a LOT of tail pulling, all out tackling, ear pulling, hand full of skin/fur pulling, and he just lays there and takes it. he eventually fights back and gives her a scratch, but its in defense/direct retaliation. I can't blame him for that, and it teaches her to stop hurting the cat or the cat will fight back.

If the cat is doing it after the child has been messing with it for a while its a good way to teach the kid not to terrorize it so much. No harm there..
Now if its doing it for no reason at all and just attacking my child.. well there would for sure be one less kittt cat
