8 Mhz CPU? No way... Can it even run DOS? Probably can run Red Hat 3, but if it only has 8Mhz it will not be able to run my OS.

286? Well the Linux kernel never was written to run on 286, BUT you can run it on 286, using a kernel option and compiling it with the 386 instruction set and Cyrix extensions. I've done it... Slower than time though.
386 CPU support was just dropped a few days ago in the official Linux kernel but my OS supports it natively... And 486 s are common enough...
Unreg, Are you using Linux or Unix? You're confusing me... They are two similar but separate worlds... Albeit I have run Unix programs successfully on Linux but I don't attempt that often...

? i too lazy to use linux. i think i will have to stick to windows 98. that is what i used when i built my 486 web server a couple years ago.

i don't understand half of the computer crap. i just played with old computers.

And was that right before the release of Wind 95?) I installed them in my house in about 92 when i built it. I guess I should throw them out - they won't even make a good boat anchor.....

i think that would be correct. maybe it is just my computer. i have had a few strange problems with it. it will acknowledge a 40gb drive but anything bigger it give me a whole bunch of ??????
i think my local parts store may have just upgrade there computer systems in the last year or so. they use to have computers with green screens everywhere.
