i was at work tonight and i needed maintenance to check out my bearings and they whipped one of these out....it was pretty cool, comes with headphones, place the probe on the area you want to check and it will tell the decibels of the bearings or whatever and even in the noisy environment of 30 or so machines running all you could hear was the bearings and the noise they were making inside....would be cool for poking around an engine

I have an old ultrasonic leak detector.... basically a pair of headphones connected to a supersensitive mic... I got it from a place I worked years ago, from a pile of old junk going to auction

 

yeah, i was lookin on youtube and i saw one of the leak detectors, pretty cool

 

I should get one for my AC. I have had to charge it 3 times this summer. I know there is a leak, but I don't have the time to find it.
