Ya i've heard some funny stories from an insurance agent friend of mine about guys with their big grill guards on SUV's and pickups who got them because they didn't want to get damage to their bumper. Then they get into a fender bender or hit a deer, and the truck gets classified as totalled because the frame got bent. The bumper was still in nice shape though. lol. The moral of the story is, a good grill guard or bumper should crumple and absorb the impact, not send it on down to the frame.

 

Ding ding ding. That's why DOM tubing is such an excellent bumper material.
