For $500 I would get it, not much money into and you can fix the headgasket if thats truely the problem even if its a cracked head you should be able to get one used or even new for fairly cheap, and if you wanted to do a swap a junkyard motor can be had for not much over $500 most of the times tranny included and for around 1500 you have a truck to use for all kinds of stuff, and not really feel bad if it gets damaged
