I bought my head unit and speakers from Crutchfield and have yet to install the DS600 Kickers in my truck. People knock Crutchfield, but I like them for the customer service and that the necessary adapters come with the head unit.

I have Kenwood speakers all around in my truck, with a Pioneer HU, and they sound great. No distortion even at higher volume. I don't have them amped, I currently have 1 10" sub under my pass seat and it all sounds good together. It's not a huge system that'll win any db drags, but at least I can hear what's coming outta the speakers haha

What you have sounds like exactly what I am shooting for. Nothing overpowering, but just enough to "rattle the cage." I will end up with something similar to yours, with the pioneer HU, 10" alpine sub and alpine amp, and now I am looking into the kenwood speakers.

I'm very new to this forum but from experience in installing subs in single cab trucks is to make sure you measure where you are putting the sub that you have enough depth for the sub. If your going under the seat make sure you have enough room for your sub to fit in the box, the sub you picked has a depth of 5-3/8" and you can add about another 1-1/2" for a standard mdf box if you make it yourself. You can go with pre-fabbed boxes that are made for your truck, or you can go with a universal truck box like you listed earlier. Personally I would go with either a pre-fabbed one made for your truck or do a custom one out of either 3/4" MDF or 1/2"MDF. I just don't want you to order a sub and a box and the sub not fit, or the box not fit...

You may want to pull the stock 6x9s out of the door and take a look before ordering something. The deeper 6x9 after market speakers may not fit. If I remember correctly, I had to add a spacer to keep the back of the speaker from getting in the way of the window when rolled down. With the spacer they made the interior panel bulge out a bit, but didn't look that bad.

That is one of my worries as well. I actually am now considering getting this, which should have no problem: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_777B8PT...Sound+Ordnance

The deeper 6x9 after market speakers may not fit.
Thank you for the warning, I will definitely do that now.

what i would do if i were you. and what i have done, and plan to do.

get one ten inch kicker cvr with a pro box truck box. will fit perfect behind you seat. those rockford speakers would work great. i had some in my wifes car and they were perfect. with the head unit, i have used sony and kenwood. liked the sony, LOVED the kenwood. great quality and excellent sound. the amp you found, the alpine one, i had its bigger brother, the thousand watt, powering two 12" rockford fosgate P3 subwoofers and rattled the crap out of my jeep. but when i wanted it to, would remain calm and sound great. alpine is a great choice.

i know people will refute most of what i said. yes kicker is all noise and no quality. but a ten inch cvr will sound good with the right stuff and tuning. and will not knock your teeth out. the speaker and the box i mentioned will only run you about eighty bucks each. not bad for a budget.

really man, you could be at this for years. i have had MANY different set ups just to find one that suited me, or to beat the other guy. it just takes some doin to find what you like. but dont ever be afraid to experiment. and always remember: have fun.

oh, and if you blow a fuse, replace it and dont do that again.

actually that sub/amp hybrid would probably be your best bet given what your looking for. i would never touch one myself, but thats only because it would never go over 180 db
