OT: My 05 Subaru STi Upgrade - LOTS of pics

Why did you change from the Cobb AP to Open ECU? Is it more flexible for tuning? I had an 05 WRX wagon with a turboback exhaust and the Cobb Stage 2 map on it. Biggest car related regret I have is trading that thing in on an 05 GTO. The WRX was just so much more fun, and waaaay more practical.

Money mostly. I had Cobb APv1 and in order to tune it anymore, I would have to get Cobb APv2 which is $600. Open ECU doesnt require any hardware, the tuner creates the map on his laptop and then uploads it to the car ECU. You can get an OpenECU cable if you need to, but you dont need to.

Yeah, I hear you. I was running the V1 on my car as well. I got it used for like $250. I'm somewhat familiar with OpenECU. I didn't use it for any tuning, but I used to hook my laptop up to the OBDII port on my car with the Cobb cable and do data logging with OpenECU, at least I'm pretty sure that's the software I used.

Update: Drag racing at TriState Hamilton Ohio.

New upgrades: Changed my internal gears in the gearbox to a Legacy Spec B 6 speed. All gears are now taller, top speed raised from 160 to 190mph, not that I will be getting anywhere near there.
Ratios -- STD / 2.235 / 1.521 / 1.137 / 0.891 / 0.707 - 3.90 rear end.
Going to a 70mm APS cold air intake this weekend and a new tune.

Dude, that Subaru is sweet. I've been looking at some recently, but I think if I get one, I'll probably go with a Legacy. There's just something about them that I like (non wagon of course). I need something better on gas anyway with me about to go to college in a couple of months, and trying to land a full time job. Found a really nice one, that I absolutely fell in love with, with a 5 speed, only problem is getting enough money together. lol
