I don't know if my Dodge Ram 2500 is a second or third generation. The 2002 models in the pictures look like the 2003 configurations here in Canada, while my 2002 looks like the 2001 body type. Its a Cummins 24 Valve by the way. Can someone point me in the right direction please.

2002 is a crossover year, but it is a confusing one. The 1500's went with the newer 3rd generation body style, but Dodge retained the 2nd generation look for the 2500 and up trucks. So technically your truck is a 2nd gen.
It could be worse...you could have the 1500 which has the 3rd gen body and front IFS yet retained the 5.9 for one more year rather than swap the hemi in.

yep desertdog is right. You are in the right place as your 02 2500 is still a 2nd Gen Ram. The 02 1500's switched over to 3rd gen that year, and I dunno what trucks came with the 360 but I know there are a few guys with 3rd gen trucks that hang out here cause they have that engine.

You would probably have better luck with engine related questions in the diesel section of the site as most of us here are gassers, but feel free to ask away anyways! This is the place for everything else though, tons of info and great guys here who are always willing to help out Welcome to DF!

Both 2002 Ram 2500's (2nd gen), and 2002 Ram 1500 (3rd gen), came with the 5.9L (360ci) V8. For the 2500, it was standard, 1500 optional. In 2003 the 2500-3500 trucks got updated to 3rd gen status and the 5.7L HEMI was introduced for the Heavy Duty (2500-3500) trucks. The 360 was STILL around in 03, but definetly on its way out late 2002. The HEMI wasn't even advertised to my knowledge for the 1500 in 03, yet they had them.

WOOT!
12 years of Dodge brochures!!!!
